FTW Staff Picks - Deception: Murder in Hong Kong

Today, we're looking at the latest addition to our Games Library - Deception: Murder in Hong Kong. Fans of Avalon and Mysterium will really love this one.

To begin every game, each player is dealt 4 Clue cards and 4 Means cards, face-up in front of them. Then, each player is dealt a Role card randomly, which they secretly look at which will either be: Forensic Scientist, Investigator or Murderer (Witness/Accomplice also in larger groups). Everyone closes their eyes, except the Forensic Scientist, who will ask the Murderer to open their eyes and select 1 Clue card and 1 Mean card in front of the Murderer. Everyone will open their eyes and the Forensic Scientist will begin giving clues to the players using the special Scene tiles, to paint a reimagining of the crime committed, for the Investigators.

It's up to the Investigator's to correctly select who among them is the Murderer, and what two cards they chose to incorporate in their murder. And for the Murderer to deceive the other players until time runs out (after 3 rounds). 

It's a great social game that can be played quick enough to get quite a few games out of it. The flavour and theme is strong, with each component of text having the words appear in Chinese writing as well as English. The sheer volume of Clue cards and Means cards guarantee that each game will be a very different experience from the last. The game will take no more than ten minutes to learn, making it easy to introduce to all your friends.
