Era: Medieval Age

The spiritual successor to Roll Through the Ages has arrived! Matt Leacock revisits his Through the Ages series, this time with dice and city-building. Era: Medieval Age uses these amazingly crafted structure miniatures. The level of detail is incredibly impressive considering what games of the same genre typically use. Eggertspiele is on fire and they’re definitely our favourite publisher of late. This title looks to be a match made in heaven. And yes, that colon in the title does imply that Era will be just the first in a series of standalone roll-and-build games.

Era: Medieval Age arrives August 2019.

Sleeping Gods

It’s officially Laukat season. Arguably the most hard-working man in the business, Ryan Laukat is back with a new game. Sleeping Gods is a 1 to 2 player campaign game in the same style of shared universe as his other fantastical games. Dubbed as an “atlas” game, Sleeping Gods has a sprawling map which grows as players explore it. The game has a non-linear structure which allows players to venture out whenever and wherever they choose. Laukat is no stranger to building large narrative universes. Sleeping Gods looks to be another ambitious addition to his growing collection of hits.

Century: A New World

At last, the third and final instalment in the Century trilogy is soon arriving to game shelves. With Century: A New World, players are not only getting a third game, but because of the pre-planned development and synchronicity of the entire trilogy, there is now a total combination of 7 playable games for those with the complete set of games. But even if you aren’t as invested in the Century universe, you will still get a strong standalone experience. While all 3 games share similar mechanics, they’re all functionally different enough to feel like separate games.

Sushi Roll

Everyone’s favourite sushi-drafting game is getting a spinoff! Sushi Roll comes to you from the folks who brought you Sushi Go! and Sushi Go Party! And like many other popular card-games, Sushi Go! is getting the dice treatment in Sushi Roll. Not much has been revealed about the game so far, but it looks like a pretty standard dice adaptation of the original. And true to its nature, it looks to keep it simple for gamers of all ages and skill-levels to enjoy

Sushi Roll will be available sometime in Spring 2019.

Wavelength

I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of the Monikers or The Mind aesthetics, but Wavelength looks all sorts of gorgeous. All 3 designers responsible for those 2 titles are coming together to bring what looks to be a big party smash hit in Wavelength. Beyond its psychedelic box, Wavelength looks to be a very open-ended game that focuses in on team-oriented communication. If that sounds familiar, that’s because ever since Codenames was released, designers have rushed to capitalize on that specific niche of party games. And alongside Medium (covered in a past Most Anticipated Games) we think Wavelength will be a very popular game.

Divided into two separate teams, players will attempt to guess their Psychic’s bullseye on a spectrum dial. The bullseye corresponds to a one-word clue given by the Psychic based on the spectrum card drawn by the team. The closer the team gets to the bullseye, the more points their team is rewarded.
